New Market Strategy

The global M&A team of a Fortune 500 materials manufacturer wanted to identify growth opportunities across life sciences and healthcare for a recently acquired new technology platform. The engagement involved identifying and sizing multiple market segments then mapping the value chains to identify pain points and solution gaps.

Segments ranging from supply chain track and trace to product authentication to medication adherence were examined to identify the best opportunities for growth. An assessment of market participants and emerging technologies enabled recommendations for partnerships and M&A to accelerate expansion in these markets.

Go to Market Planning and Programs

A leading private equity firm engaged the team to develop new growth strategies for a leading vendor of clinical trial supply solutions. The vendor already enjoyed a strong position in the market but lacked a targeted segment sales plan and the marketing infrastructure to support it.

After completing an analysis of the market and identifying emerging opportunities centered around the growth of biologics, a plan was developed to create a new marketing capability. The team designed and executed a content marketing plan leveraging the company’s deep experience and unique quality assurance capabilities, while working with the client’s internal team to implement new processes and tools to support ongoing initiatives.

Voice of the Customer

A medical device manufacturer was preparing to make the first major enhancements to its category leading product in nearly 20 years. They wanted to assure they captured opportunities for improvement while not risking making any changes to functionality their users were currently happy with.

We worked with the client to design a VOC engagement doing interviews with a cross-section of their surgeon users. Utilizing a jobs-to-be-done model, we designed the interviews to delve into the detailed steps of each procedure. We sourced the participants, managed logistics, and conducted one hour video interviews with current and competitive solution users.

The information was then compiled and distilled into key insights across an outcomes matrix to provide qualitative input supported by quantitative metrics. This holistic interview process not only identified ways to improve their product, but also uncovered opportunities for the company to more deeply engage with users as a true partner in their practices.

Product Definition and Design

A Fortune 50 healthcare company launched a project to create a patient-focused mobile app, revolutionizing healthcare for millions in the U.S. The app introduced a digital membership ID and used beacon technology for real-time reminders in healthcare facilities for tasks like lab tests and prescription refills. It also allowed video appointments with healthcare providers, increasing accessibility.

A major challenge was integrating the app with Epic systems, essential for a seamless patient experience. The team also addressed regional healthcare regulations and varied plans, ensuring nationwide adaptability and compliance.

This project marked a significant advancement in digital healthcare, aiming to enhance patient engagement and care standards.

Prototype Development

A Fortune 500 medical services company initiated a project to develop a patient engagement app, centralizing vital information like reminders, appointments, medications, lab results, and self care resources, with a direct line to contact a nurse. Beginning with gathering requirements, a mobile device prototype was created and tested with real patients in facilities. This feedback led to significant refinements before development.

Particularly beneficial for patients undergoing care at home, the app became an essential resource, reducing the need for frequent facility visits and enhancing the management of their healthcare journey.
